Finishes: drywall, trim, cabinets and flooring

October 17, 2026

This is the stage where the house starts to look like a home, and where most of the choices you can see get made and installed. Finishes are also where the small details separate a good house from a great one.

Drywall and paint

Drywall closes up the walls, then gets taped, finished and primed. The straighter the framing underneath, the easier it is to get a flat, clean wall, which is one reason we use engineered studs when the budget allows.

Trim, doors and cabinets

Finish carpentry is where careful work shows: tight joints, even reveals, doors that hang true. Cabinets and built-ins go in, and trim goes around windows, doors and floors.

Flooring, tile and countertops

These are some of the biggest selections in the house, and some of the most personal. We help owners make them against the budget, using the allowances set in the contract, so the choices you love do not turn into a surprise on the last invoice.

Making selections without the stress

Selections are easier when they are made in order and early enough that nothing holds up the schedule. We will tell you what needs to be chosen and by when, and we will tell you honestly where the budget is tight.

The last details

Lighting, plumbing fixtures, hardware and final paint go on at the end. Then the house gets cleaned and gone over, room by room, before we ask you to walk it.
